@cak: I play Emrakul, get an extra turn, swing for 15 and cause you to sac 6 permanents, and only then do you get to cast your Ulamog and kill my Emrakul (well, unless you sacrificed too many lands). Ulamog may destroy a permanent, but Emrakul gets a free turn to swing and Annihilate 6 before anything else happens.

@Anonymous (the above poster): Whether a card is better than another depends on the situation. Also, since Ulamog is a creature and Day of Judgement is a sorcery, you can't just compare them like that. Day of Judgement is best used when you've got less creatures on the battlefield than your opponents, but it alone won't win you the game, unlike Ulamog, which, apart from destroying any single permanent, be it a land, enchantment, artifact, creature or planeswalker, can deal 10 damage and cause your opponent to sacrifice 4 permanents each turn. You have to keep the purpose of the card in perspective when comparing them, and Ulamog and Day of Judgement each does their own jobs very well.

As for my own opinion on Ulamog, I think it's a great card. If possible, every Eldrazi deck should run at least one, simply because of the ability to take out any specific permanent that would have otherwise caused you to lose the game. The annihilator 4 and indestructible keywords are also nice of course.

Poster above, Ulamog can kill any permanant, but ... if they're playing Emrakul via Elvish Piper / Fauna Shaman combo... Turn 5 (or 6) Emrakul is hitting the board. Unless you can cough up the 11 mana right there, it's over for you. Better off playing Day of Judgment. 4 mana global wipe - better than Ulamog in any situation. Ulamog can be useful in EDH though (Killing Emrakul, etc) I think using him solely as Emrakul destruction, is not as good as a DoJ.

u play emrakul. I play Ulamog. emrakul dies. I win.
Ulamag is the best of the eldrazi, beacause it is indestructible, and kills the other eldrazi. enough said.

Easy to be countered? Not with with Not of This World! Easy to be dealt with? Not with All Is Dust! Fact is, aside from Emrakul for his large mana cost, this guy is simply the strongest creature, pound for pound, that I can think of in the entire game. Yes that includes Progenitus. With the plethora of Eldrazi mana acceleration spells and lands coupled with colored spells from Pyretic Ritual to Cultivate, this card can EASILY be played by turn 4! Yes, turn 4! Don't believe me? Check this out: Turn 1: Forest->Ancient Stirrings pick up an Eldrazi Temple. Turn 2: Eldrazi Temple ->Explore play another Eldrazi Temple. Turn 3: Eye of Ugin->Skittering Invasion. Turn 4: Forest-> HARD CAST ULAMOG OR KOZILEK Game swipe Turn 5!. Eldrazi creatures are BEAST!

It can still be countered as it's not a permanent yet...got to sideboard autumn's veil, silence, duress, or ricochet trap. It's bonkers with the annihilator ability coupled with "All is Dust"...all your land are gone. Avoid the hard cast cost by using summoning trap. The indestructible bit is another layer of suckage for your opponent.

I run this fella in a Red/Green aggro deck. Eye of Ugin, Eldrazi Temple, and Awakening Zones make this an easy task. Diabolic laughs occur every time he comes out and I knock out a Gideon, Oblivion Ring, or Jace.

Believe me, you never had a chance to cast this thing so easily.... It's big and scary... but easy to be removed, countered.... (and in the Legacy deck, there's a Stiffle that'll counter activate or trigger ability) For Ulamog, I give it 3 stars.... great in type 2 period....
