Do you realize what karn means to this fat card? It means that you could exile it from your own hand and then re start the game with a 15 15 on the feild. Great card

Actually, Oblivion Ring does target and won't work on shroud or pro-white. But Oblivion Ring remove via a triggered ability which emrakul doesn't have protection from. At any rate, if you hard casted Emrakul for the timewalk. Someone is going to be hurting from the loss of 6 permanents and 1 more chump blocker or 15 life even if they do manage to remove it.
Emrakul's timewalk and shuffle into library ability combined with his Ledgendary type allows an infinite turn combo if you play him every turn and draw him with Eye of Ugin. The combo needs 20 mana but easy to get using green or the 12-post lands.

Of course it is easily delt with by Oblivion Ring or Planeswalkers but thats if you soft cast it with Show and Tell or Elvish Piper. If you hard cast it in a 12 Post Deck or Eldrazi Green, you get the full extra turn and your opponent isn't going anywhere without losing 6 permanents, maybe even 12 if you can give it haste with something like concordant crossroads.

I use Artifact/Eldrazi with five color. Fist of Suns makes it a very mean deck, especially when I can cast Emrakul for five mana.

I apologize. After rereading the cards Oblivion Ring and Journey to Nowhere, they aren't technically targeting Emrakul. The rest of my review still stands I just wanted to apologize in saying that those cards wouldn't work against it.

This card has protection from colored spells... You can't take care of it with Oblivion Ring or Journey to Nowhere because... oh yeah it has protection from colored spells. This card is pretty ridiculous considering the ability of mana ramp that Eldrazi are capable of, but that's kind of what they do. It's a theme and it works, but I have beaten multiple Eldrazi decks with weenie decks, Blinding Mage can stop the biggest one in there tracks. This card is great for Eldrazi decks and if you get it out the game is probably over.

The mana cost of Emrakul makes it the hardest of the Eldrazi titans to cast, however the rewards are also the largest, granting you an entire extra turn in which Emrakul and other Eldrazies you might have are free to swing.
Yes, Emrakul is very expensive mana-wise, but with the right mana base, it's not unplayable. Consider for example Cloudpost, Glimmerpost, Vesuva, Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin. Put a fair amount of each of these lands into a deck, and you should be able to play Eldrazies on a regular basis. You might also want to play Expedition Map in that deck in order to find any specific lands you might need.
I'll go ahead and give Emrakul 5/5 because it isn't broken (there are still many ways of dealing with it, Oblivion Ring and Journey to Nowhere being some of them), but it usually means game over if you succeed in hard casting it.

The secret is out after Grand Prix Columbus. Aeon Bridge and Aeon Isle were both decks that saw top tier play where you can cast him on turn 2/3 with stifle nought combo and doomsday. turn 1 dark rit doomsday, turn 2 lotus petal shelldock isle the emrakul underneath, play cloud of faeries untap the isle and your sea activate isle casting emrakul. Stifle nought is turn 1 land turn 2 Mosswort bridge, turn 3 dreadnought trigger bridge let dreadnought die. Both resolve in extra turn casting. Sneak Attack is also another viable option with him due to his annihilator being way to high.

using in my old classic deck: pure blue and tons of artifacts... academy, candelabra (+copy artifact^^), mana drains and the broken mana cards- well i love this deck, since my opponents rarely come up to play anything and with 20+blue mana in round 3 its especially easy hehe

I don't think that combo works what the previous poster posted since when Entomb's spell takes into effect, Emrakul ability gets put on the stack and gets shuffled back into your library. Doomed Necromancer's ability triggers when there's a physical creature in the graveyard.
Other combos I've seen in Type II is Polymorph and have either only this or Iona in your deck. Polymorph a token creature in play. In EDH use Jhoira as your general and then suspend this. When it comes into play it has haste also.

Turn 1: Swamp, Dark Ritual, Doomed Necromancer.
Turn 2: Swamp, Entomb, (Emrakul), Dommed Necromancer Ability.
Since activated abilities are instant speed, and Emrakul's ability is "when he is put into a graveyard" that means that he physically *is* there, and can be resurrected.
Ta da! Turn 2 Emrakul.
Even if they're holding a wrath of goddamnationday of judgement, it's still gg for them, since they'll only have 3 mana. (2 if you went first).

with each new magic set, i continue to wonder if this is the direction the game is going in. When you make cards like death shadow, platinum angel, phage the untouchable, darksteel collosuss, and countless other imbalanced cards. eventually magic will just become a game of first turn kills. it's only a matter of time before we start seeing 20/20 and 30/30 cards that are completely legal. Emrakul is a ridiculous card, playing it will almost certainly give a player the game. and there should be no card that has that much power period.

This is the most powerful and broken card I've ever seen. easier to summon than first thought, and has the most evil ability ever made. Very good deal for only 10 bucks.

Let me rave about this new amazingly huge amazingly cheap amazingly mana consuming card. First he cant be countered, theres a really handy ability right there. Second he has a built in timewalk so if you have the 15 mana to cast him, you esencally get to play him for free and he has haste. Thirdly, Protection from Colored spells, this prety much says if your opponant has anything left after sacrifising half if not all of there board and arnt dead from taking a savage beating of 15 damage they wont really be able to do crap to stop this thing unless they have a wrath or some super sneaky shizz which could easily be countered if your playing blue. Fourth ability, Anhillator six wich means if they actually have the life points to take 15 damage and live there going to scoop there board position into the graveyard (if there not scooping from conceeding). Fifth and most intresting ability is like a built in reminisce shuffling your graveyard into your library so if they actually do manage to kill him, theres always the chance of him coming back the next turn. This fifth ability also says if your opponant is playing mill, you might as well tell them you have him in your deck so they can just go ahead and scoop before they even start as this ability triggers when hes put into the graveyard from ANYWHERE.

it says he can't be countered, but in response to someone playing him, you can essentially still counter it, by removing the mana source, i've managed to do this at least twice against a buddy of mine who liked eldrazi and tried to pull this on me. it only worked once, but i still ended up winning because i had him down to one before he managed to summon him, and i poked him to death as soon as he declared his attacker, there are plenty of ways to prevent this from hitting the field, if you remove it from the game, via a hand or deck removal, at least, at a few tournaments where he was played, thats what the rule was,

Wait dude, Emrakul has "protection from colored spells" not "protection from any colors". That's mean your artifacts, enchantments, creatures, planeswalkers, or lands can affect it. For example, the lowly Trip Noose (artifact that can tap a creature) still work on it... and in type 2, I wait until the opponent play Polymorph... and I play Jace the Mind Sculptor to bounce it... say:don't bother my friend, next turn...!

Great card. But it's need a long game if you want to cast it. You must combine with "Oath of the Druids". First turn... play Moxes and Forbidden Orchard. Tap them to give two mana for you and 1/1 colorless spirit to your opponent. Next turn, the havoc begins... Also Polymorph good for alternative caster...

Really nice and unbalanced card. Almost the game stopper. I only give it 3 stars because I have yet to lose to a standard deck running this card. I play white weenie and haven't had a problem. Emrakul meet Oblivion Ring. However, running vintage or legacy, this card can be a deadly turn 3 or 4.

In the type 2 deck, this card is very powerful since many cards that can be used to increase the mana capabilities. But in the others deck, having this card is not really helpful. Especially in Legacy type. There's many deck that can kill the players early of the game....

The process is actually quite simple my friend got him out with deathrender, so did a day of judgement and killed
It, he was like ok I can get him out again and I'm like nu-uh brah! I had a deathbeds angle and an adarkhar Valkyrie in play, I made my Valkyrie indestructible but deathbeds had to go sadly, but it's ok I tapped adarkhar Valkyrie and I ended up getting this bad boy on my side of the field :) he does go to re graveyard before he does his ability you know, hahahahaha I blew him away after that
