It includes figures from Episode I and II of the Star Wars films. Some Booster Packs will also contain very rare figures that are not available in the Starter Set. This guy looks awesome and is a dangerous combatant. He has triple attack and scores criticals on a 19 or a 20. His hitting power is further augmented by Sith Rage. Rolling cleave allows him to move one square after defeating an enemy and make an extra attack.
However, one should be aware that there is new version of Maul in Champions of the Force that is powerful as well, but more affordable. The new Champions version has lower attack and defense, lacks rolling cleave, but has quadruple attack (!) and more force powers. Unfortunately, the new maul is ugly and shirtless. Seriously.
Gamers on a budget should go with the new Champions of the Force Maul. Devoted collectors / enthusiasts should get this great-looking, out-of-print Clone Strike Maul. Personally, I prefer the Clone Strike one for the sculpt and higher attack & defense.
