This thing is wickedly evil-looking, with small eyes glaring frighteningly out of a hideously fanged maw. It is large size and coiled around its base. The purple color looks great and it is very true to the illustration in the MM3.5. Definitely worth picking up one of these. I like it much better than the ordinary basilisk (Giants of Legend #13).

Figure looks good but is very small. The figure is on a 2x2 base and the sculpt is in a circular stance. It's nice that the sculpt doesn't encroach on adjacent spaces but when you put it up against a 2x2 creature like the Bulette mini it's just not big enough.
