Blue is all about control. If you're worried about the 1 to 2 ratio, make sure your card is better!

Poor man's Ancestral! That is hilarious! This card gets a 5 because: It has a cool name, the picture is cool, and Black Vise.

One of my favorite counterspells. It's a hard counter, very easy to integrate into a multicolored deck (only 1 blue), and the best part: if you are hurting for cards, counter one of your own spells to get a poor man's Ancestral Recall on the next upkeep.

Best counter out there, works wonders in countless combos, and will usually hurt your oppenant much more then it helps them. It esspacially works in decks which consists of Iron Maidens, Viselings, Skullcages, and, of course Black Vise!

How many other counter do cost you only one blue mana?
No one!!
This is the best counter ever printed, as it works well in a multicolor deck!!
Yes, opponent draws, but so do you!

This card kicks butt IF YOU KNOW HOW TO BUILD A DECK. This card goes well with my underworld dreams/megrim deck. While I used the cephalid looter and broker to draw and discard cards they take damage from dreams and megrim. Arcane denail would let them draw cards and they would lose life or wouldn't draw at all and plus you would get an extra card as well. Awesome card.

I would love to give someone a card advantage if it meant stopping a crucial card they needed in a combo. You dont use Arcane Denial for everything. Thats why you add Counterspell and Mana Leak, and maybe even Power Sink. What a good card.

I put 4 of these in adeck with forced fruition, letter bomb, fog bank, and some other counter cards. With fruition, most libraries will run out of cards after 8 spells or less. With Denial, your opp has wasted one of his precious few spells, and very often will choose not to draw the extra 2 cards, as it only increases his odds of getting bombed. OUCH!

4, i use to have 3 of them in a deck a nd it worked wonders. Guy above who says Hindering Light is better, the newer cards aren't even comparable to alot of cards from before 8th edition(to be safe), scourge, and ice age.

I give it 4 because it's a direct counterspell for 2 mana.

Don't forget to use Forget...two blue, essentially a blue Hymn from Ice Age...works well together me thinks in mono blue or multicolor.

This was the Remand back in the day. Sure your opponent possibly got two cards and you one but let's think for a moment:
Play Psychic Posession. Now when they draw cards you draw cards! Now play Niv Mizzet, the Firemind and now they take a damage for each card you draw.
Simply put before me, if you know how to use it, this is one of the best counterspells out there. But yeah, still not the best.

this is another card like 'memory lapse' that you will seldom see played well except with a really good player, if at all. love playing with this card but don't get the chance that often. although i'm experimenting with it right now in a monoblue type 1.5("legacy" now) deck. love comboing it with its namesake cousin 'arcane laboratory.' if you want to get a little crazy and pack it full of counters go with 'stasis' and the 'kamagia' block(i know i'm spelling it wrong, sorry) 'm. , the broken mirror'(again i'm probably writing it down half-assed, mucho apologia). of course, you will be the most hated person in the room ....and deservedly so. in conclusion, this card is nice and nicer if you know your way around. recommend....................
