DescriptionThe Alpha set was designed by Richard Garfield and released in August of 1993.  This set consists of 295 cards, 74 common, 95 uncommon and 116 rares with 10 lands.  Alpha cards have black borders.  There is no set symbol for this set.  The easiest way to discern an Alpha card is the more rounded corner.   The estimated print run was 2,600,000 cards.

Cards of note in this set are many, including the Power Nine cards at the top of the heap. Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus, Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, Mox Sapphire, Timetwister & Time Walk make up the Power Nine.  Additionally Dual Lands, Birds of Paradise, Serra Angel, Sol Ring & many other notable cards are found throughout the set.

Great card for R/B, it can be fetched and don't need any requirements to play (such as comes tapped, deals 1 damage when you tap it, or anything else)

I agree with the guy above me. Although I don't play any RB decks, I see this card is the best for producing R/B mana... It also can be fetched... no doubt, Five Stars...

The people who rated this card less than 3 is a weak-minded man. Think about it, if he rates this card 1, then he will rate cards like Graven Crains, Pain Lands, Shock Lands, etc. less than it.... I think Troll must delete all review from people like that... because his own goal is dropping the rate of a card... (maybe he doen't have any)... Thanks Troll, you're the best...!

Yeah I agree with the guy above me. I buy cards like Graven Crains, etc. just for fun. But this card is better, especially it doesn't come into play tapped or damaging you when tapped for mana... can be fetched also... best card ever printed (along with all other dual lands....)

One of the nicest looking Duel Lands. I am lucky enough to have purchased my 4th one from Troll and Toad. Do what I do fellow Magic players; purchase all your cards from Troll and Toad. AWESOME service, GREAT prices, and you know what you're getting from them.

It's a dual land. There's no reason NOT to use it in a deck of the right color combo. A Vintage/ Type 1 essential. The only major downside of this land is its high asking price, though nothing when compared to what the Power 9 are going for.

These cards are for anal people like me who won't stop until they have every card in existance... It's about the prestige of owning cards most people will never see.

The summer magic cards were a kind of printing proof run that was done at Carti Mundi in the summer before the release of the revised set. It was only supposed to be a test run, but somehow a few boxes of cards were sent to England and sold. As a result, only a handful of each card exists. I've heard that there are only maybe 5-10 of each rare from this set in existance. This is the set that has the blue Hurricane as well as the white bordered Serendib Efreet with the correct picture.
