Description | The Alpha set was designed by Richard Garfield and released in August of 1993. This set consists of 295 cards, 74 common, 95 uncommon and 116 rares with 10 lands. Alpha cards have black borders. There is no set symbol for this set. The easiest way to discern an Alpha card is the more rounded corner. The estimated print run was 2,600,000 cards. Cards of note in this set are many, including the Power Nine cards at the top of the heap. Ancestral Recall, Black Lotus, Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, Mox Sapphire, Timetwister & Time Walk make up the Power Nine. Additionally Dual Lands, Birds of Paradise, Serra Angel, Sol Ring & many other notable cards are found throughout the set. |

Nothing inspires more fear in your opponent than a big 'ol grizzly bear so dont try sayin that some stupid kavu thats bad is better, cus it just isnt.

Definitely THE card for mono green. This is simply fact. No card says "I'm running a mono-green fatties deck" like this classic creature. Thank you Wizards for printing a card this amazing.

or at wild mongrel, river boa, etc... Grees creatures are generally much better or their casting costs than those of other colors (except white).

I know that this seems a little high for a 2/2 no special, but lits look at afew other 2 mana creatures
first:goblin raider 2/2 for 2 mana, but can't block
second:Morgue Thrull 2/2 for 2 mana, but puts the top 3 cards into your graveyard
third:Rabid Rats 1/1 for 2 mana, it taps to give target blocking creature-1/-1
so I think that next time you look at a this card then come pair it to other cards for the same cost

well if you think that a 1G casting cost is so great, you should look into pouncing jaguar, or skyshroud ridgeback, or any number of comparable or better cards for only G
