This card is seriously the most awesome combo card out there! Let me state a couple of combos from best to worst:
#1: Geth's Grimoire, words of waste, megrim, and if you want to, you can add in an underworld dreams. Basically, every turn you deal them damage equal to double your mana. Also, underworld dreams deals them damage to equal to your mana pool ( these calculations only work if you tap all your mana, but you get the pattern ). This combo is totally devastating if you have 4 megrims out. Think of it! If you have 7 mana out, every turn you deal 21 damage to them and also making them discard their entire hand! You can deck yourself, but they should be dead before then.
#2: Wheel and deal, megrim, and to make it more devastating, an underworld dreams. If your not playing with a dimir deck, you can use any discard spell against them ( but wheel and deal works best of course, because you draw a card dealing 1 more damage when playing with underworld dreams ).
#3: Honden of night's reach, and megrim. Okay, okay, this one isn't that great but if your playing with a burn deck playing your stupid shocks and stuff, wouldn't it be fun to have an infinite shock? You can also add more shrines which makes this a pretty good combo after all, but then again, they are legendary, so you might not stumble upon all five of them when playing with a five colored deck.
These combos can be added to. The more megrims you put in your combo, the better it is.

This works very well with Memory Jar. I have two of these, and three Memory Jars. I also use cars like Windfall,Stroke of Genius to make 'em draw, draw, draw, knowing they can't use everything, and I have other cards that make them discard. Mostly old school stuff.

Try the Megrim with a combination of Millstones and Grindstones. The more mergims you have in play with these cards equals the fewer turns your opponent has to survive!!!!

How can you stop this? For one thing, dark ritual can bring this beast out on the 1st turn. Another thing, have you ever heard of 2 cards called Donate and Grafted Skullcap? And if you really want to have some fun, add Arcane Denial and Ertai, Wizard Adept. That way, they lose 4 life a turn. But to go crazy, add some Howling Mines. HA!

The Rack also goes great with a Megrim/Pit deck, because it keeps damaging them whether they have no cards or a lot of cards.

Merim is God. You combine Megrim w/ Cephalid Looter and Cephalid Broker, and you're in business.

I think that this Megrim together with any enchantment that makes your opponent discard a card at random from his hand, would make a perfect combination.

If he's playing Mirror Gallery, which reads "the legend rule doesn't apply", he can have as many shrines on the battlefield as he wishes.
Megrim is a great card paired with any black control deck. Imagine casting this on your 3rd turn, a Geth's Grimoire on your 4th turn, and then Mind Sludging your opponent for 5 cards on your 5th turn! Or, imagine what the game would be like if you cast Megrim on your 1st turn with Dark Ritual, and then play Hymn to Tourach on your second turn!
But nevertheless, Megrim is one of my favourite black cards. It turns discarding (something that you would usually happen to your opponent if you're playing black) into something that can quite litteraly kill him.

I have a discard deck that's deadly! Megrim with a Persecute can be very fatal to an opponant. My favorite combo is Megrim and two black shrines from the Kamigawa set that makes target opponant discard a card from thier hand for each shrine I have in play at each upkeep. That's an easy 4 damage each turn not including the other cards that make those poor suckers discard! Bwahahaha!

Ever heard of Memory Jar? 14 damage, play it's ability at the end of your turn. Sure, you lose 7 cards, but who cares!? you just dealt 14 damage to all opponents! And if you have two megrims in play, you just killed everyone! Also good with Bottomless Pit or Hypnotic Specter. Yah.

When 'Megrim' is used in combonation with 'Bottomless Pit', also found in the Stronghold set, it can be a very lethal combonation. Even on its' own, this is a very powerful card. If you are even thinking of making a Black deck, this is a must.

Actually Liliana's Caress is vastly superior to Megrim. 1) 2CMC vs. 3CMC. 2) Liliana's Caress deals in the form of 'Lose 2 Life', whereas Megrim is 'Deals 2 Damage'; thus it could be Story Circle/COP:Black or prevented by some other effects/spells. Although the original art for Megrim is the best~!

Very good BUT BUT BUT I gave it three since it's been replaced by Liliana's Caress. You cannot say it is better because Liliana's Caress does the EXACT same thing but for one less mana. Though, you COULD run both for a completely DEVISTATING effect. I REPEAT! LILIANA'S CARESS IS SAME FOR ONE LESS MANA.

This card is rather weak since Liliana Caress appears... But if you bring them together, interesting...

Discard = Placing a card in the graveyard from your HAND
If the card comes from anywhere else, it is not discarding.
Megrim does not work with cards like Traumatize, Glimpse the Unthinkable, Tome Scour, etc...

This is an excellent card. So many ways to make your opponent discard, so little time! It seems, though, that some people aren't reading closely enough. Cards like Traumatize absolutely DO NOT work with this! Megrim only damages your opponent when he discards, but Traumatize specifically states that the cards go directly from library to graveyard. This is not the same as discarding, so there would be no damage from Megrim.

To the guy that said he plays this with two black shrines in play. You can't do that. The shrines are legendary so you can only have one of each color in play......
