My playgroup often uses predatory hunger, sadistic glee, modular creatures, thrive, simic decks, and a wide variety of other ways of putting counters on creatures. Spike Cannibal becomes a MONSTER for very little casting cost. This is a great counter to ravager decks, especially combined with a subsequent shatterstorm.
