So it's clear that if you are reading my reviews that I have a bit of an agenda in defending the much-maligned Fallen Empires. It is Magic's most subtly powerful set, and Icatian Scout is an effective (albeit unexciting) example of this. Fallen Empires has lots of creatures in it that produce desirable effects that normally soak up deck space as enchantments or instants. You play Icatian Scout instead of Lance or any other spell that would give your creatures first strike. If your game situation would make this ability less than ideal, you can always swing with the one-drop Scout early and do some damage. Like so many other cards in the set, Icatian Scout is versatile and can be useful in more games than the situational cards that so many players are fond of glorifying. If you are a fan of "If, then..." scenarios, cards like this one will make you smile.
