Extremely sweet card! In a way its kinda better and kinda not better than an oldie I like to play with. Portent is slightly different in the sense that you can use it on your deck or your opponents to further his mana screwing or prevent him from drawing an awesome card in the next three turns. In that sense its sweet the reason ponder is better is if you only want to play it on yourself ponder gives you an extra card this turn whereas portent is on the next turns upkeep.
Awesome card and Im glad its not banned in legacy! (Sucks its restricted in vintage though.)

The only reason I think brainstorm is better than this guy most of the time is because you can brainstorm, then put crappy cards on top of your library and then use a fetchland (such as Polluted Delta) to shuffle your library so you don't draw the crappy cards the next turn. However if you cannot afford to use fetchlands this card is better than brainstorm since nothing sucks worse than playing brainstorm and drawing land, land, land and knowing that you have to draw more land your next 2 turns (assuming you don't need land that is : - P). Ponder lets you see land, land, land and then shuffle your library so hopefully you don't draw land your next 3 turns ; - )

This is the closest they have come so far to reprinting Ancestral Recall. If you are playing blue, there should probably be a few of these in your deck. A great card!

A Baby Brainstorm that replaces itself & has a shuffle option. Not bad! Helpful in Type 1 or 2 format.
