The positives attributes of this card far make up for the casting cost. If a 7/7 Flying was not enough, his ability to prevent X damage to you and then turn that damage onto your enemies is tremendous. Then to top it all off, the artwork is one of the best I have seen. A Spartan-like Warrior riding a flying Lion, how cool is that! Archon would have been useful at Thermopylae.
