Description | Shards of Alara Shards of Alara is the first set in the self-titled Shards of Alara block. The complete card count for this set is 249. Alara is a world that has been torn asunder by a great cataclysm. Where one plane stood, five shards stand rotating around each other, each missing two colors of mana. *Shards of Alara heralds the return of planeswalker cards, and introduces the first multicolored planeswalkers. Each of the five shards of Alara has its own game play themes, and its own stable of artists. Shards of Alara introduces the new keyword mechanics exalted, devour, and unearth, and features the debut of a new rarity for Magic: The Gathering: Mythic Rare. *Description provided by the manufacturer. |

Just played a 5 person booster draft with this set, Really nice, busted two lich's mirrors, and several other nice cards, This set has some NASTY Dragons, and some really awesome Angels. Definitely recommended.

This is one really good set, the mythic rares are not that good but still, in a few years they will be expensive.
And you save 30 bucks!

the combos that i have made are amzing so far, highly recomemed for the collection. the plains walkers change the game quite a bit so watch out, some of there powers are quite devistating without counters.

amazing series, tons of powerful cards like invinsible hymn, godsire etc. dont really like the format of the planeswalkers cards but they are really good and help in games. i reccomend buying this set.

This set stinks. Don't buy it. Although it's fun to draft in it, the most of the rares are worth nothing and the overall card quality stink (tri-color!?!?!). If you are looking for value, then go with lyoren.
