This card is excellent one of the premire cards for any prison archetype, this card makes prison what it is today. Love it.

This card was originally submitted as Gary Wise's 2001 Invatational Card design, he didnt win and it was later included in the Mirrodin Set in 2003. This card is amazing and in my opinion its by far the best invatational card released.

this early (or even 2 early with a wonderful workshop) will make you lose your best friend. Or even a body part...... you can pull a massive and game swinging spell the first turn by casting this for 2-2. No counters/mana drains, disenchants, seal of cleansings, null rods or even do it for 1-1 and watch the little cards that hit first never see the light.

Incredibly good type 1 card. After dropping any Moxes or Black Lotus on your first turn, drop a Chalice of the Void for 0, so your opponent can't do the same.

Another one of my favorite cards. It is really usefull if you work around it. For example I have two copies in my deck and I use it to counterspells that cost three and seven. Therefore not one card in my deck has costs three or seven to cast.

Having Elf, Goblin, or Soldier problems? One-casting cost spells go bye-bye for two colorless. An artifact that COUNTERS spells, that's almost as cool as a black enchant world that counters spells unless their caster pays an additional 3.Yikes.

Seemed like a good card when I first saw it. But, then I tried to use it and found that there is way too much guesswork and luck required for it to actually be effective. Unless you know your opponent's deck, you have no idea what number is best to set for the Chalice. You can design your deck with a specific number in mind, and avoid putting cards with that casting cost in, but then you just have to hope your opponent is using a deck with plenty of cards with that cost. Good Luck with that.
