One of the best cards ever printed. Period. A staple in many decks and formats. Especially EDH.

If you are even think affinity or any multicolored deck with massive creatures you NEED this card. There are no better way to get some five colored creature into battlefield without fearing that it may become countered. Yes usually multicolored god creatures cost very much, and you need to stall couple turn (counter and destroy are very good to stall) but when you got finally enough counter to vial, well you win the game instantly :) (Example you may play progenitus)

Combine with doubling season, and put it into an vial elf/token deck. BTW, I'm pretty sure "may put a counter" means you can, but you don't need to.

I managed to get my hands on three of these for pennies at a hobby shop. now, my kithkin deck is nigh invincible.
aether vials+three charge counters on one, two on second, three on other+lots of buffs= massive ownage

You can use power conduit to add/remove counters. Drop this and a conduit, and swap counters from the vial to the conduit.

You know, it doesn't say you have to remove the counters...

Do you hate drawing a hand with some great creatures and then losing the game because you can't play more than a single land card? I used to. An Aether Vial can be an amazing card if you have a deck with many creatures of the same converted mana cost or one that can manipulate charge counters. In other decks, it is merely very good.

this card is good but it has a serious down fall to it. the only way to make it better is to find a way to remove a counters
