Ravenous Rats is one of the best base-discard creature cards ever made . . . In a deck that relies on a hand-advantage theme, use the Rats in combination with other cards that allow you to bounce them back to your hand to be played again (such as the Cavern Harpy from the Planeshift expansion). Your opponents will come to hate the Rats for their hand-destructive power and curse them every time they are played.

Wonderful little pricks when paired with Hyppies and Megrim/The Rack....

The perfect opening creature for any black deck. Pair with Megrim and Skull collector for maximum effect.

Vastly overlooked card. With some form of resurrection, this card can be brutal, allowing you to force an opponent to discard a card for each time the rats return. It will also give you a chump blocker, which you will only be too happy to return to play. Also, Erratic Portal /Ravenous rats is a game breaker.
