OH. MAH. GAWD. A cool card, and a good one to have in a dragon deck. also useful if you decide you want to uber-pwn your opponent.

Once you get it out there, you should be able to crank the dragons out. That should finish anyone off.

If you have a red deck, forget Riptide Replicator.

I would love this card. Got a dragon deck (red/black/blue) and this would be very welcome along side crucible of fire...7 mana for 8/8 flying? every turn? and with the new planechase cards (shiv)? and with the new zendikar "rite of replication" kicked? 6 8/8 flyers on top of what u have? im sorry i ramble

Dragon Roost is expensive, but for good reason. It has the ability to generate creatures, a powerful ability in itself especially when you drew something other than a creature to attack your opponent or defend your life. For seven mana, you can get yourself a 5/5 red dragon with flying, which isn't too bad at all. The coolest ability is that it's reusable so you can summon a dragon every single turn if you have nothing better to do that turn. Another bonus is that Red isn't all that great with flying monsters, so this can help balance out that weakness.

In multiplayer this card has proved an unstoppable Dragon creating machine combined with Mirari's Wake(JD).

An expensive card, but good nonetheless. It gives you a 5/5 flying beatstick whenever you need it, and its reusable for as long as you need to dish out the pain.

Sure, Crucible of Fire pumps the tokens into 8/8's for 7 mana, but then again, you rarely have THAT much mana free, unless you're sitting in a really slow match...
I would recommend Dragon Roost for mono red burn decks with little to no access to creatures, but I think I prefer Centaur Glade, since it's less expensive and that you will often have more use of it that the Dragon Roost. Don't get me wrong though, I do see the point in having large flying creatures as a win condition. The problem is merely, that with such a high manacost, you'll rarely be able to afford it.
