it is, hands-down, the beefiest zombie for it's CMC (Short of Phyrexian Scuta and it's kicker being paid). Being a zombie lover, that holds in high reguards to me. In short I use it for it's beefcake-ness for 3cmc to bounce my Keldon Marauders after they attack turn 2-3, Fleshbag Marauder... Heck, even Cosmic Larva w/ Lightning Greaves, after I attack with Larva equip greaves to another creature then cast him to not have the draw backs of the larva next upkeep.

An excellent black/red gater. Combine the Zombie with other black/red creatures with good come-into-play abilities, and you've got one awesome addition to your deck.
