This is a good card in an aggressive green/red deck--one that combines gating creatures with other creatures that have good come-into-play abilities (e.g., the Flametongue Kavu). As a 5/3, he packs a mean bite--not to mention his electrical direct-damage sting. The best part about the Spark Caster, however, is that when you play him, you get to choose what order you want his abilities to go on the stack. This means that you can play the Spark Caster in a pinch--when you don't have any other creatures to gate back to your hand--sting your opponent, and return the Spark Caster to your hand to be played again. In other words, with this card's dual abilities, you won't get stuck with him in your hand, unable to play him (like some other gating creatures).
