Granted, this card is not as good as Vampiric Tutor. However, there are about 50 million copies of Vampiric Tutor floating around and not so many of these. And seeing as how VT is restricted (as is this card), it might be a good idea to get a hold of one of these.

Tutors which can find any card are powerful even at sorcery speed. Wizards, please do not reprint this card!

The reason its so expensive is because its from Three Kingdoms, of which there was only a really limited English language run that was only distributed in Australia and New Zealand. On top of that fact, its also legal in the vintage format where both Demonic and Vampiric tutors are restricted to 1 copy per deck. Although this card is also restricted it can be a very useful search card for high level vintage decks.

Am I missing something here? This seems to be an inferior version of Vampric Tutor. And the fact that it costs significantly more is highly dubious.

Useful card, yes, but this isn't anywhere near as good as Vampiric Tutor, to say nothing about Demonic Tutor.
