@Mark - I don't quite see your argument on why counting as an artifact land makes that big of a difference. If you're playing with affinity then all it needs to be is an artifact and being a land makes no difference. By the way, you go ahead and try to get out your Xanthic Statue and your Aladdin Ring and we'll see how bad the moxen are when I go turn 2-3 win on you with Tezzeret-Time Vault combo. And Dakkon Blackblade? Sorry, but I don't fear creatures that come out turn 6 and have no evasion. Swords to Plowshares anyone?

@Mox Sapphire- The reason any of the moxen are good is because it lets you play more than one land a turn. Coupled with all of the fun things that you can do with artifacts in Vintage (Tolarian Academy, Tinker, storm combo using Chain of Vapor ; - P) makes running 5 moxen a must in almost any vintage deck. The reason Mox Sapphire is the best is because of being able to play Mana Drain/Counterspell turn 1.

You could use an island, but as the old saying goes, he who wins first... wins. Acceleration in any form (mana, card, etc.) strengthens your deck, and blue is viscious but slow. Also, a first turn mana drain or counterspell helps take care of black's incredible but non-sustaining mana force. It is the most sought after of the 5 for this reason.

definitely the best of the "10" (you can only play 1 island a turn... therefore 1 island + 1 mox = counterspell/mana drain)

When did the power nine turn into the big ten?

This mox is the best of all moxen. Blue has very little mana excel for all the high cast cards it has and this just is over the roof. Imagine. First turn counter of Sapphire medallion...

Not only is it the best Mox, being blue and all, but it has the best art too. Black Border is the way to go if you can afford one. Coolest of the big ten

First turn counterspell? Yes please. :^)
