This card works very well with Blind Hunter. When Blind Hunter comes into play, your opponent loses two life. When it dies, you haunt your Infectious Host, and attack with it. If they don't block, they get one damage. If they block it and it dies, you get to force them to lose four life at one time. It also makes people think twice about attacking you if you have the Host as a blocker. If they have damage prevention in place, pop it yourself with a Shock to trigger the loss of life effect, which can't be countered.
