I run a vampire deck and this is one of the staples of it. This card is basically an insurance policy against getting rushed early on by 2/2 or 3/3 enemy critters. Play Arrogant Bloodlord early, and you'll be able to deal with your enemies larger creatures.
This vampire will also force your opponent to keep one critter (probably a 1/1) open to block it... for fear of taking 4 damage from this bad boy. If you do attack with this vampire, make sure that he can't be blocked by a 1/1 critter, as most opponents will be quick to jump on the opportunity to trade their 1/1 to kill off your 4/4.
