Good card all round if you ask me. I like the idea of one ability giving two possible results. Its always good to have options at any point in the game.

Solid 3cc creature. Both abilities are useful, its revealing nonland, noncreatures that slow it down.

turn 3 swing for 5/5 or accelerate into something juicy with 6 mana -- I'd say this was situational but with cards like explore and the fetch lands you can have a second go at your top card if it isn't a land or creature. Hm.. 1 life for 7 mana on turn 3....
