The greatest thing about this elf is that he is a VERY effective mana filter. Since his ability to transform mana into red or white doesnt require him to tap, and is still useable when he is, he is almost vital for any extended multicolor decks or even casual multicolor. Got plenty of forests, but you need 2 more white mana to cast that Opalescence? Filter 2 mana into this guy and bam, instant playability. Still a staple in almost every multicolor deck i make for casual play now.
