Find some way to prevent him from taking damage, and he's functionally the equivalent of a snapcaster mage every one of your turns.

And you know how much people love their snapcaster mages.

if you run out of permanents to sacrifice do you lose the game or does dralnu just die ?

Potential. Much potential. Also, it is in control heavy colors, black and blue!!!

And before I forget, I'll kill you long before turn seven. How does 47 damage by turn 5 sound?

I am a huge fan of Glimpse the Unthinkable, come on ten cards for 2 mana, now I can play it with flashback for 2, and with a splash of white put it back with Pull from Eternity. Throw in a Tormod's Crypt for good measure what fun.

clarification: he dies because you have to sacrifice enough permanents to "satisfy" the effect. he's a permanent, so...bye-bye. you would never lose the game because of not being able to do an effect (such as playing shriekmaw with no other creatures on the board). the ability would just be countered. but as long as dralnu's a permanent (that's always), you have to sac him if there are no others left.
anyway, the reason this is bad is because if your opponent feels like playing a flame javelin on him, backed up by a guttural response, well...that's no good for you. the second ability isn't that great...flashing back a damnation can be cool though.
